2017 Season Right Around the Corner

Well, we’re less than a month away from the start of the 2017 High School Football season. Teams across Texas are about to start preseason practices and an additional focus is being placed upon some of the Week 1 matchups.

FOX Sports Southwest is providing special live broadcasts of the Shallowater @ Idalou (6pm) and Lake Travis @ Converse Judson (8:30pm) games on September 1st.

Meanwhile, one West Texas team will try to repeat as state champions in 2017: Borden County (Class 1A, Six-Man Division 1).

Also, a number of West Texas teams advanced into at least the third round (Regional) of the playoffs last season: San Angelo Central (6A, Div. 1), Abilene High (6A, Div. 2), Lubbock Coronado and Lubbock Monterey (5A, Div. 1), Lubbock-Cooper and Abilene Cooper (5A, Div. 2), Abilene Wylie, Levelland and Andrews (4A, Div. 1), Sweetwater, Seminole and Monahans (4A, Div. 2), Littlefield, Wall and Muleshoe (3A, Div. 1), Canadian, Coleman, Sonora, Childress and Heniretta (3A, Div. 2), Post, Abernathy, Forsan and Anson (2A, Div. 1), Iraan, Wellington, Seagraves, Hamlin and Roscoe (2A, Div. 2), Happy, Knox City and Garden City (1A, Six-Man, Div. 1); and Valley, Follett, Grandfalls-Royalty and Balmorhea (1A Six-Man, Div. 2).

Again, for 12 weeks, the West Texas Friday Night Scoreboard Show will be your Friday night companion for the 2017 season, starting September 1.
